ABOUT COFFEE CO
CoffeeCo was established in 1983 as one of the first coffee shops in the Lancaster area. Over the years the business has changed but the one constant has always been the incredible coffee.
The current owners, John & Heidi Smucker, are the fourth owners of CoffeeCo. They purchased the business in 2015 with their partners at the time and have worked to build on the great foundation that was previously built.
John and Heidi enjoy traveling, dining out and spending time with their grandchildren. Their goal with CoffeeCo is to make Lancaster county (and beyond!) a better place to live by providing great jobs, excellent food & drink, and exceptional service.
Meet our Leadership Team
Shannon Kann – New Holland
Shannon joined our team in 2024 and jumped into management at New Holland. Shannon has brought organization, strong leadership and dance parties to his team!
After hours Shannon loves to spend time with his French bulldogs. He also enjoys running and crossfit training. In 2024 Shannon ran a full marathon!
Shannon’s favorite CoffeeCo item is our homemade croissants. He loves working at CoffeeCo because of the people, both customers and employees. They make work fun!
Dawn Plaisted – Lancaster
Dawn stands as a seasoned member of the CoffeeCo team, joining us in 2018. She was one of our best grill cooks and quickly advanced into management. Her all around experience makes her a great leader!
Outside of work Dawn enjoys spending time with her husband and family. She enjoys watching their grandkids grow and thrive in the world.
Her favorite CoffeeCo item is our delicious Lemon Blueberry Pancakes. A perfect way to start the morning before a big rush!
Dawn’s favorite part about her job is the team. She loves getting to know them, helping them grow inside and outside of work.
Narissa Watson – Ephrata
Narissa joined our team in 2024 as a front-of-house team member. She quickly became more involved and launched our Ephrata location. She brings warmth, leadership, and a passion for connection to everything she does. Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with friends and family—especially her husband—and is always excited to try new experiences and travel to exciting new places.
Her go-to order is a hearty breakfast burrito paired with a smooth vanilla latte, or when she’s looking for an extra boost of energy and fun, an undertow. Narissa loves working at CoffeeCo because of its truly unique culture and genuine commitment to community, personal growth, and meaningful connections.
Chris Griffith - Millcreek
Chris joined CoffeeCo in 2023 as a front-of-house team member and has since grown into a manager, bringing dedication, positivity, and strong leadership to the café. His favorite menu item is the Sweet Smoke Wrap, and what he loves most about working at CoffeeCo is the meaningful connections—both with the community and the teammates he works alongside every day.
Outside of work, Chris enjoys staying active and spending time outdoors. You’ll often find him playing volleyball or baseball, swimming, hiking, or unwinding with a good book.
Crystal Pennell - Landisville
Crystal joined the team in 2023, starting out as a server and quickly growing into her role as café manager. Her favorite menu item is the Chicken Melt with greens, and she brings that same warmth and care into everything she does.
Crystal loves building strong relationships with her coworkers and getting to know her regulars, especially hearing about what’s going on in their lives. Outside of the café, you’ll find her going on adventures with her son, soaking up time at the beach, cheering at sporting events and concerts, or lacing up her shoes for a run.
Fer Carpinteyro – Finance Manager
Fer joined our team in the fall of 2022 all the way from Texas! He brings fun, energy and organization to our team. Outside of work Fer loves to spend time with his family, play board games, host cook outs, and go camping with his kids.
Fer loves to enjoy a CoffeeCo Steakwich along with a sugar free French vanilla latte. These CoffeeCo essentials keep him going. Fer loves to work at CoffeeCobecause he gets to bond with his team and help them be their best selves. He prides himself in the great camaraderie at his cafe.
Kylie Hodge – Lititz & Director of HR
Kylie joined our team as a barista in 2022, and she moved swiftly into management at our Lititz location. New opportunities arose in 2024 and Kylie joined the CoffeeCo corporate team.
Outside of CoffeeCo Kylie loves to spend time with her four legged friends. She also enjoys learning about personal health and wellness.
Kylie’s favorite CoffeeCo item is an iced dirty vanilla chai. She loves working at CoffeeCo because of the growth opportunities and good culture. Kylie also loves creating long lasting relationships with the teams and guests.
Cody Yoder – Director of Operations
As the esteemed Director of Operations at CoffeeCo, Cody boasts an impressive 20+ year journey within the company. Starting when it was a single shop family business, he worked hard to help evolve it into a thriving enterprise with enduring familial roots.
After hours Cody enjoys spending time with his family, woodworking and software development. His dynamic hobbies bring great ideas to the team.
Cody’s favorite CoffeeCo item is our Steak bowl. He loves how much protein it has to keep him energized throughout the day.
